Description
The project is located on a beautifully situated on a natural hillside plot on the peninsula of Mols. The highest point of the site is about 36 meters above sea level and features native low-growing fauna, tall grasses, and herbs as well as tall solitary trees of birch and pine. The architectural design draws on the presence of the surrounding nature and striking views.
The summer house consists of a main building and an annex, connected by a covered terrace under a long hipped roof. An insulated shed for storage and technical installations, placed perpendicular to the building, defines a west-facing protected outdoor area, while to opposite site of the house faces the sea. The summer house, measuring 27 meters in length and 6.2 meters in width, is positioned high on the terrain. A textured concrete curb, cast to adapt to the terrain’s elevation changes, leads up to the covered terrace. The terrace is protected from wind and rain by adjustable sliding doors.

The interior features a large, open-plan living area with a vaulted ceiling. The kitchen, made of oregon pine veneer, is followed by a dining area with large sliding glass doors overlooking the landscape. The living room area is lowered by 54 cm, with an integrated sofa that sits at eye level with the tall grass outside. A fireplace with yellow brick masonry act completes the space. The main building also includes a guest toilet, a large bedroom, and a bathroom with access to an outdoor shower. Above this area is a mezzanine with skylights.
The annex consists of two mirrored rooms with a shared bathroom. Each room includes a hallway with wardrobes, a bedroom with a double bed, and a mezzanine accessed by a ladder.
The house is clad in 15 cm wide cedar planks, with a roof covered in cedar or larch. The windows are made from raw aluminum on the outside and oiled oak inside. The interior floor is made of end grain cuttings from larch wood, and the walls are to be painted or finished with a lime-like texture. Outdoor areas are designed as ‘terrace islands’ in the tall grass using surplus, creating a seamless connection between the building and the landscape.
